Unfortunately, even stone does not last forever.  Many of our cemeteries are showing the ravages of time.  The Illinois Historic Preservation Agency reminds us, 

"They [cemeteries] are memorials to the past that offer a unique view of our history, culture, and way of life. Their existence adds much to our understanding of the history of Illinois and its people."

The Clinton County ILGenWeb Project would like to challenge you Save a Tombstone with a Photo.  We have installed Photo Gallery software to allow you to directly upload your tombstone photos.

If you have just a few photos to upload, please follow these step-by-step instructions.

  1. Go to http://clinton.ilgenweb.net/cpg1419/upload.php
  2. Select the album -Uploads-
  3. Click the -Browse- button and select the photo from your computer.
  4. Type in a -Title- Please enter the name on the stone in the format SURNAME, Given MI
  5. Type in a -Description-
  6. Hit the -Upload File- button
  7. After a wait of up to 1 minute depending on the speed of the Internet, you should see:  "Your file was uploaded successfully. It will be visible online after administration approval."

You may also be interested in Registering as a User of the Photo Gallery.  This gives you more upload options, allows you to make comments on the photos, and to create your own Favorites list.
