Obtaining Copies of Old Newspaper Articles

The Carlyle library has copies of old newspapers on microfilm.  Their printer can send a copy of the article to you by email, or you can down load to your own disk or you can make a paper copy.  Cost is 50 cents.

The Carlyle newspaper office only has the original papers which are very brittle and they prefer not to use the papers much.

The State of Illinois has a copy of the same microfiched newspapers and they offer printing service. They offer look up services and their prices are listed.  You may also borrow the microfilm on interlibrary loan through your local library and do your own searching, this is wonderful background reading.

Information is at http://www.state.il.us/hpa/lib/  and then go to the "Microfilm and Newspapers" on the right side of the page.

They say to make sure the newspaper is listed in the "Newspapers in the Illinois Library," 1994.  Those Clinton County newspapers that are listed in that publication are listed below.

If none of the above methods appeal to you, send an email to Linda Holthaus and tell her what you want including the date of the event.  She doesn't have search capability there.  She often makes trips to the library every few weeks.  Please reimburse her for her costs if she asks you for payment.
