Short funeral services were held at the residence at 10:30 a.m. Sunday
by Rev. Phillips of Keyesport, with burial in the Duncan cemetery.
Richard Johnson Apple was born in Hancock County, Ind., February
18, 1840. He served in the Civil War as a member of Company C, 22 Illinois
Cavalry. He was married on Christmas Day 1879 at Carlyle to Miss Emma
KESNER, who survives, together with the following children, J. V.
Apple of Bethalto, Clay R. Apple of Monticello and Erwin,
a senior of the Greenville high school, and Mrs. H. T. HORD
of Boulder, Mrs. Richard ALEXANDER of Keyesport, Mrs. C.
H. DIXON of Batavia and Miss Octo Apple of Tamalco. He
is also survived by two brothers, Cass of St. Louis and Smith
of Quincy and one sister, Mrs. Mary OWENS of Missouri.
